As a Beach Rat and have developed a science of what I call "Disc-Fu", that being the use of air-land-sea as the playing field to play the disc against the wind in various ways.
Whether casting against the breeze for it to return, or gliding the disc laterally back and forth across the body, the Big Kahuna 200 is better suited than lighter discs because its greater mass gives more momentum and time aloft. It's also better suited for higher wind speeds than lighter discs. Beyond that, the plastic itself is softer and more comfortable to catch and interact with than other discs.
For me, developing this practice of what is not only fun and entertaining, it's also therapeutic and helps me maintain good health.
Impromptu and extemporaneous beach play goes beyond the sanctioned freestyle disc sport, it's a way of life for more people. Many random beach-goers stop to ask how I do my "Disc-Fu", and after 20 minutes or so of instruction on the fundamentals, they are up and running with a new found craft.
The bonus is that I have gifted many discs away to build up what I can see becoming a new disc sport.
